What is morning glory?

The seeds of the flowering Morning Glory plant (Ipomoea violacea) contain chemicals similar to LSD.

The chemicals differ from plant to plant. There have been very few studies of their effects, and their safety. As with LSD, the strong hallucinatory effects can confuse or upset people, often for long periods of time.

Those seeds bought from garden shops, where they are often sold, are usually coated in pesticides. These in themselves are poisonous and can cause liver and neurological damage (to the brain and nerves). The seeds are not illegal in the UK, though if extracted, the hallucinogenic chemicals are.
