Druglink article 1991 – Out on your own:making solo outreach work by Keith Bolton and Sue Selleck

An account is given of the tactics used to increase the effectiveness of drugs outreach work in an area with only a single employed outreach worker. Although reassuring for the worker, too close an association with office-based services was counter-productive and instead a community base was established. Use of employment trainees and volunteers from the drug using community helped extend the work and proved therapeutic for some current ‘street’ users.
