Eutylone is a strong and long-lasting stimulant drug with empathogenic properties. (Empathogens are psychoactive substances that produce experiences of emotional connectivity and openness, such as MDMA). Eutylone was first developed in the 1960s but only seems to have come to prominence internationally from around 2019/2020.
During the summer of 2021, drug testing organisation, The Loop, reported that Eutylone was being sold in the UK as MDMA. Their data show it to be similar in appearance to MDMA and to be available in crystal, tablet and powder forms.
Effects
Reported effects include a sense of mild euphoria which can be followed by more than 12 hours of unpleasant effects including an inability to sleep, agitation, anxiety, and even psychosis.
Harm reduction
As with all drugs it is better to stay with others you trust who can reassure you and call for help if necessary.
Rest in a quiet place if possible and stay hydrated. Slowly sipping water or juice is good, but avoid taking on more stimulants such as coffee, or mixing with alcohol.
Always seek medical help if you are worried.
