Legal highs

What are Legal highs?

Legal highs is a commonly used, but inaccurate term, describing a range of synthetic drugs that have come onto the drug scene since 2008/09. From May 26th 2016 ‘legal highs’ became controlled under the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016

The more accurate term for this group of drugs is ‘new ( or novel) psychoactive substances’ or NPS

Please see our page on new psychoactive substances. You can also click the tag  New Psychoactive Substances in the tag cloud at the bottom of each web page on this site to see all the articles we have on these drugs.
