The last 20 years have seen a succession of initiatives to tackle urban deprivation. None of these have systematically addressed drug problems alongside the the themes of local neighbourhood renewal. Currently there is a new willingness across government departments to join major policy areas of drugs and urban renewal to build resilient communities in which drugs do not take hold.
